This recipe looks absolutely divine and I'm sorely tempted to give it a go today. One question, though. Is self-rising flour absolutely necessary or will ordinary all-purpose flour work in its place? I've never heard of self-rising flour being used in this way and was curious about the rationale.

Interesting idea for a brownie. Would love to try it!

I mentioned you (and this article) in my blog where I attempted to create the ultimate Chocolate Brownie.

What do you think of my results? Any good? What makes the best brownie?

[...] Are brownies best dense and fudgey, or crumbly and earthily chocolatey? Are walnuts the only acceptable addition – or could you be tempted by these utterly divine, but distinctly un-American cardamom and pistachio numbers? [...]

Hi Al - it's perfectly normal for them to be wobbly in the middle. Brownies are not like cake - they set into a gooey fudge. You just have to leave it to cool and then set in the fridge. Please, please try again. I've made these twice and the're a huge hit at home (and with guests)

Hi Mallika,
You were right. These are sinful! Quick question though. I baked them for 30 mins, however the batter was still wobbly in the middle, so I put it back in for about 10 mins. This made the edges all hard and crumbly and basically inedible. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks
